Dad's Day Out: Motor Museum of Western Australia

Planning the perfect day out for Dad? Look no further. The Motor Museum of Western Australia is one of Perth's most unique and rewarding attractions, and whether you're visiting for Father's Day or simply treating Dad to something special, this is a day out he won't forget in a hurry.

Located in the heart of picturesque Whiteman Park, just 25 minutes from Perth's CBD, the Motor Museum has been showcasing WA's rich motoring heritage since 1994. Run by a passionate team of volunteers, this not-for-profit organisation is one of Perth's most loved heritage attractions, and once you step inside, it's easy to understand why.

What's Inside the Museum

With over 200 vehicles and two expansive exhibition halls covering 4,000 square metres, the Motor Museum is far larger than most visitors expect. The collection spans more than 100 years of automotive history from early veteran cars and vintage motorcycles to iconic Australian classics, racing machines, and everything in between. Displays are updated regularly, so there's always something new to discover even on a return visit.

The star of the show is Daniel Ricciardo's 2014 Red Bull RB10 Formula 1 car, the only winning F1 race car on public display anywhere in Australia. This is the exact car Ricciardo drove to his very first Grand Prix win in Montreal, Canada. Seeing it up close is a genuine bucket-list moment for any motorsport fan, and for Dad, it's likely to be the highlight of the day.

Beyond the F1 car, other highlights include:

- Over 15,000 scale models, one of the largest collections in the southern hemisphere, spanning a huge range of brands and scales
- Motoring memorabilia spanning over a century of automotive history, including a reference library with almost 30,000 publications and 20,000 historic motoring images
- The RAC exhibition telling the story of RAC WA from 1905 to the present, featuring an early patrol motorcycle, the iconic 1981 Ford Escort patrol van, and the RAC Intellibus
- A slot car track, a fun, interactive element for kids and kids at heart
- The RAC Learning Hub, an educational space popular with school groups and families

The Gift Sorted Before You Leave

No need to stress about finding the perfect present. This Dynamic Pit Stop will be set up out the front of the museum, selling their unique motoring tin signs, a nostalgic and personal gift any car-loving dad will want on his wall. You can purchase their products from the gift shop year-round, and you can request a custom order.

Dynamic Pit Stop also periodically appears at the museum throughout the year, so it's always worth checking what's on before you visit. A day at the Motor Museum paired with a gift from Dynamic Pit Stop is the kind of experience that turns a good day out into a great one for Father's Day, a birthday, Christmas, or any occasion worth celebrating.
