THINGS TO SEE IN NANNUP

HERE ARE A FEW OF OUR FAVOURITE LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

The Blackwood River

The river is at the heart of Nannup and will immerse you into a country setting with streams, waterfalls and rapids. A favourite activity on the river is canoeing, depending on the season changing from a gentle paddle to a wild run down the rapids. Fishing in the river is also fun and popular.

Scenic Drives

The 40 kilometre "Blackwood Scenic Drive" follows the beautiful Blackwood River to Balingup, with places to stop for picnics. "Tathra, the Farmhouse Kitchen" is along the way as well as a special Wildflower drive and walk. The way to Bridgetown, Manjimup and Pemberton are also magnificent drives.

What's the weather like?

Nannup has a Mediterranean climate with mild summers and cold winters. Winter rainfall supports fruit growing, like apples and cherries, and farming sheep and dairy. Summer (December to February) averages 28°C max and 12°C min. Winter (June to August) averages 16°C max and 5°C min, making it pleasant for most of the year.

A bit of Nannup's history

The name Nannup comes from the Noongyar Aboriginal people, meaning "a place to stay." Settlers arrived in the 1850s, and Nannup became a crossing point for those traveling between the coast and farms. With a population of about 1,200, the town retains its country charm, with preserved heritage buildings. Timber, cattle, tourism, and floriculture now drive its economy.
