Description

Allora is the Italian word for affection and fittingly named when the house was built by JD Connolly and offered as a gift from the owner to his future wife as an engagement present.
Allora house was built in 1897. The guest enjoys one of three fully renovated comfortable bedrooms, all connected to the shared lounge and dining room. The kitchenette and bathroom also can be accessed from the shared space.
Please note Allora house does not provide breakfast, though there is a well-equipped kitchenette and a supermarket a block away from us. The kitchenette is modern and well-appointed, with a microwave, sink, kettle, toaster, iron, ironing board, cutlery, crockery, full-size fridge, cutting board, cupboard storage for your groceries, knives, bottle opener, salad bowl, etc, and enjoy making your meals.
Each bedroom has a flat-screen TV, reverse cycle air conditioning, and a modern ensemble bed to accompany restored furniture sympathetic to the period of the house. Our linen is Australian-made a sustainably produced.
Our lounge/dining area has a chaise lounge, lounge suite, full-size TV and sound system, coffee table, and dining table with four chairs. The lounge/dining area overlooks the garden. We have a wide veranda opening onto a sheltered garden. Lovely to watch the changes of the season in the garden. Guests enjoy lounging in the garden.
To make your visit more comfortable we have free wifi, maps of our area and tourism information. We enjoy greeting our guests and sharing information on the heritage, good food, fun things to do, and information about our wider region.
If you would like to book all three bedrooms, please book all rooms, or alternately make contact to see if it is possible.
Located two blocks from the main street, one block from the railway station, over the road from restaurants, and others a short walk. We are a quiet place to while away the hours and enjoy an immersion into history. We like showing off the depth and diversity of our rich heritage and region.

Great hosts
Allison and Carl are wonderful, gracious, respectful, smart and helpful hosts. The house is a gorgeous old heritage building only a very short stroll from the city centre and train station. Security and privacy abound at a great price.
With all the hotels now feeling like mining camps, it's refreshing to have flexibility and personalised service in a comfortable setting.

Beautiful place
A hidden gem…or shall we say gold. What a beautiful place - warm welcoming hosts; clean & cosy; plenty of space for our family of 5; tranquil gardens that were amazing for bird watching; close to everything we needed & tourist attractions within a short drive; safe & secure. We almost missed booking Allora, thinking it might not be the right configuration for a family but we were so pleased to have found out that in fact it was perfect. 3 spacious rooms & our own living/dining area; kitchen (indoor & outdoor options) & bathroom /toilet. Loved our visit & would highly recommend staying here!

Great facilities and friendly staff
Excellent facilities. Beautiful decor. Really top notch. Some of the friendliest and most helpful staff I've had at any stay.
