Details

Description

Ord River Houseboats was started by Amanda and Daryl Moncrieff in July 2012.

Our 17m (50 ft) twin hulled, twin cabin houseboat Love at First Sight has proven to be a perfect vessel for relaxed cruising of the magnificent Ord River, with many people enjoying an easy and relaxed getaway, close to town and yet feeling like a million miles away. The houseboat is licensed to sleep six people and can safely carry up to 20 people during daylight hours.

The business operates under a “Hire and Drive” license, meaning that as long as the Hirer is over 21 years of age, has a valid driver’s license, participates in an induction on the safe operation of the houseboat and on the local boating environment, then they are free to sail away and create their own holiday itinerary on the Ord. Hirers can travel the first 35 kilometres of the 56km stretch of the upper Ord River, from Swim Beach to Cooliman Creek.

The houseboat is incredibly comfortable, but at 50ft, she’s not for exploring every nook and cranny of the river! Love at First Sight provides a unique opportunity for a small group of friends or family to get away from it all for a short break (away from mobile and internet reception!) and just enjoy each other’s company in perfect comfort whilst taking in the magnificent scenery, with mountain ranges and gorge walls in view almost the entire distance. Swimming, fishing, bird watching, movies, reading and board games are just some of the main activities people enjoy aboard the houseboat. There is a 3m electric punt that can be hired, perfect for fishing the snags!

A beautiful river cruise
All the river and gorges are beautiful up here. Ord River and Lake Argyle do not disappoint. Lots of freshwater crocodiles stunning themselves. Our tour group had a lovely afternoon tea in a clearing on the river bank.

Great Forefought
How amazing for one mans vision in the 1960's petitioning the government and finally success by 1970's. The water captured and dammed servicing the properties of Kununurra and beyond with water. A great nature reserve and ecological haven for all bird and water species.

Full Day Lake Argyle Luncheon Tour- Triple J Tours
Just had a fantastic day cruising on both Lake Argyle and Lake Kununurra/Ord River. From the pickup by Josh at 8.00am in Kununurra, through to a visit to the historic Durack Family Homestead, 3 hour lunch cruise with Mark and Katie on Lake Argyle, and finally to the exhilarating trip down the 55kms of the Ord River with Dylan, there is not one part of this tour that you could fault in any way. It was a fantastic day and we strongly recommend it!
