Fre-Jac Bakery in Vasse is former Parisians Roselyne and Jean-Marie’s passion. Hand crafting Authentic French Cuisine with local and imported ingredients from France.

How Fre-Jac came to be:
In August 2006 Roselyne and partner Jean-Marie decided to settle in Balingup and opened Fre-Jac Restaurant and Bakery. The restaurant gained success quickly and was embraced in the South West with people coming from far and wide to enjoy the French flavours. Roselyne was the restaurant chef and Jean-Marie baked all the extremely popular French bread in the bakery. Life was a little slower in Balingup than in Paris, but the French couple were very happy with their move and enjoyed the lifestyle.

Jean Marie then extended the bakery business to include participation in local Farmers Markets.

Gradually the bakery expanded until it became the focal point, finally the couple decided to relocate Fre-Jac Bakery to Vasse, closer to their main customer base and with that decision the restaurant was closed.

Their new premises opened in July 2012, since then Roselyne and Jean-Marie have attend many Farmers Markets and Events in pursuit of a diverse customer base. With some customers following them weekly to different markets to get the freshest product
All products are made with French flour, no additives, no preservatives, no GMO

From Busselton, Take the Busselton Bypass and turn Right at the round about where MacDonald’s is onto Northerly Road, Turn Right onto Lynwood Street and Left onto Burler Drive

From Margaret River, from Bussell Highway turn Right onto Northerly Road, and then Turn left onto Lynwood Street and Left onto Burler Drive.

We are Unit 3 / 14 Burler Drive, you will find us behind Green Construction

Comparable to some of the best in Melbourne
We tried quite a few different things here. Plain croissants, almond croissants, pretzels, quiches, pies (two varieties), strudels, pain au chocolat, pizza slices with eggplant and capsicum.
Each to their own - our favourite was the plain croissants. As our son put it (quite the food critic at 7!) after he took the first bite of the croissant - mmmm this is what I call good! Mind you, he had a croissant from a regular on the road bakery the day before and said it was terrible.
If you are after overly sweet pastries - don't go there. This place makes European-style pastries with a more balanced flavour, rather than relying on loading up on sugar.

Excellent Baguette. After hunting high and low for a decent French Stick/Baguette in the 'capes area without success, we stumbled upon a pamphlet for this bakery. Don't let the location put you off (what seems to be a light industrial area in Vasse, entry from the side of a new block of business units) - the baguette we purchased today was perhaps the best I have experienced in Western Australia, and I have tried quite a few after becoming addicted to them when in Paris. The baguette we purchased was so similar to true French baguettes I wonder if they import par-cooked baguettes as I know some other places in WA do. Either way, the result is excellent. The snail patisserie was also excellent.

If you are in the area and want a traditional baguette don't settle for the poor imitations at the more popular bakeries in town - pick one up from here on your way past from the wineries.
