Waringarri Aboriginal Arts is the first Indigenous owned art centre established in Western Australia and one of the oldest continuously operating art centres in Australia.

Waringarri Aboriginal Arts represented important Indigenous artists such as Rover Thomas, Queenie McKenzie and Paddy Carlton who regularly painted at the art centre.

The centre is open to the public and operates as an artists’ studio and gallery selling ochre paintings, limited edition prints, engraved boabs, wood carvings and sculptures.

We offer cultural tours, workshops and opportunities to engage with Indigenous arts workers and artists.

Our Dawang Gallery honours the past with selected works from the Waringarri Collection, with a new digital space providing a unique interactive cultural experience for visitors will launched in June 2016.

The arts centre provides Miriwoong people of all ages with opportunities to share and celebrate their cultural heritage. Regular traditional corroboree performances are held throughout the year, complimenting the vitality of Miriwoong cultural heritage and enriching the artists’ painting practices.

The art centre supports more than 100 artists and provides for the training and employment of local Aboriginal people as arts-workers. By offering realistic employment and investing in cultural and creative practice, Waringarri Aboriginal Arts successfully drives economic independence and links the Miriwoong community to global audiences.

There's some top quality art on display and for sale at this little spot just outside Kununurra. They'll ship any purchases for a reasonable extra fee too. Well recommended.
