Description

Lavendale Farm welcomes families, groups and couples. We have 64ha of gently sloping land on the banks of the Avon River 10 mins drive south of York in the beautiful Avon Valley. Accommodation is in self contained 1, 2 and 3 bedroom cottages including a fully wheelchair accessible unit. We have a large common room for in-house conferences or group gatherings. Two of our units can be booked together to give a 5 bedroom complex with 2 kitchens, living areas and bathrooms, plus an additional toilet. Each of our cottages has their own outdoor eating area with BBQ. There is also an elegant B&B room in the farmhouse. Each of our cottages has its own theme so they are all different but all have well setup kitchens, large living and dining areas and full bathrooms. We have enclosed wood fires in winter and evaporative air-conditioning in summer. Two units have reverse cycle air-conditioning. TVs with DVD players, books and games are in each cottage.

There is plenty to do on the farm. Our stable is home to horses, ponies, alpacas and donkeys. We have sheep, goats, pet pigs, an ostrich and some cattle plus numerous ducks and chooks. The children will love the playground or enjoy our activity room. Guests are invited to help feed the animals in the evening and collect eggs. Enjoy wonderful walks along the river bank or sandalwood plantation, or simply relax and enjoy the peace of the country. With clear skies the star show is wonderful.

Excellent family long weekend
We just returned from an amazing long weekend at Lavendale Farm. Farmer Katherine and Merv were so lovely and accommodating. We stayed in the Bali Hai family chalet and the accommodation was spotless with amazingly comfortable bedding and everything we needed for cooking. The homemade bread and fresh eggs were a bonus and our kids age 4 & 6 thought these were great.

My kids just loved feeding time every evening and going for a hay ride. They were even lucky enough to milk a goat one morning and brush the ponies and donkeys. Farmer Katherine even helped my son and husband feed BB the ostrich, as they are both terrified of birds. Katherine and Merv were fantastic hosts and made every evening interesting. My son cried the last night because he was so sad to leave his mate Eric the donkey and my daughter was so sad on the last morning because she wanted to live on the farm forever.

We would highly recommend this farm stay and as a bonus it’s only an hour and a half from Perth!!!

Unique and Lovely
During our one-night stay at the farm, we experienced by far the best hospitality we had in Perth from Katherine and Merv. Though our stay was short, we had truly an authentic and rich time with the animals and got to try our hands at daily tasks on the farm (milking the goats, feeding them, brushing the ponies). They were very knowledgeable and had many stories to share about each animal. (P.S. look out for Ralph the ginger cat - he’s super friendly)

Katherine and Merv have really adapted the living space to different seasons of the year. The rooms are cosy and beds are definitely comfortable to sleep in.

We had 3 home-cooked meals (lunch, dinner and breakfast) during our stay, all of which never failed to give us a sense of home and their kind hospitality. I would love to get the recipe for their custard croissant dessert.

Don’t sleep too early because from 11pm onwards, the night sky is literally filled with stars and we were lucky to have spotted a shooting star that night. At m

Craft weekend with girls
A great place with plenty of beds and a shared room with tables provided. Reasonably easy to find and owners were lovely. Bathrooms are great, we had 2 kitchens. Would definitely go back. Nice area outside, plenty of parking. Clean and tidy.
