The idea for Camel West came to us while we were at a tourism conference. With the opening of Elizabeth Quay, the Perth tourism market was looking for new and exciting tour activities that compliment the natural beauty of Perth and its’ great recreational and entertainment activities.

If you’ve ridden with us before you would have already met our head Cameleer, Jon. Jon’s early life was spent on sheep and cattle stations where camels occasionally visited him. From the tourism conference Jon’s idea started becoming a reality when he located his first mob of Camels after which he started training them.

Our camels are fully trained and have graduated from our Camel finishing school in the Swan Valley and have successful full time jobs at Camel West where they showcase our beautiful city and the Swan River.

This was a great experience for me as I wouldn't have done anything like that before. I saw it in a booklet & I booked it. It was fascinating to go along the waterfront, looking that the scenery, having stories told about how they arrived. Going down to the jetty & Bell Tower. It was very reasonably priced. They told great photos of us all & got them emailed the same day.

This is the best value for money tour in Perth.
The family-run business really loves their camels and the camels respond to their care.
We went on a beautiful day, along the river edge and past the bell tower...
Enjoyed it so much especially the talks given along the way about the history of our camel populations and about the animals themselves.

No one should be scared to try this, the slow rolling walk is really pleasant and very safe.

Try this when you come to look at the bell tower, it’s about 100 mt from the tower.

Golden Oldie having a great time
Really enjoyed the trip. The staff were helpful and assisted me into the saddle. The trip along the river and back past through the Bell Tower were lovely. The talk was informative. Really enjoyed myself and thought it was good value for money. Emailing pictures of the trip was a lovely touch. Thoroughly recommend.
