Description

The Queen of the Murchison Guest House in Cue, Western Australia is the ideal half-way stop from Perth to Karijini National Park, Mount Newman or Port Hedland. Before moving on, relax and spend a day or two exploring this splendid historic gold mining town of Cue.

This solid two storey brick and iron building was built c1940 as the Capitol Hotel. The grand style included extensive use of jarrah, especially in the wide staircase, huge public rooms and rest areas, and high ceilings with stylish ceiling decoration. It had extensive renovations in 1995 and remained licensed premises but was later de-licensed and became a family-oriented bed and breakfast providing overnight, holiday and worker accommodation in Cue.

Guest facilities include a large, secure parking area, wide first-floor veranda and a small garden area.

Excellent home-cooked meals are also available provided with old-fashioned service in a relaxed family atmosphere with a BYO Licence. Remember when meal-times were a time for connection, banter and real conversation – you’ll find that at the Queen of the Murchison. Enjoy air-conditioning in summer or dine around the log fire in winter. Joyce and Darryl encourage guests to treat their home as your own whilst their guests.

A quiet drink on the veranda in the evenings chatting with other guests and your hosts is the perfect enjoyable end to your day of exploring Cue.

Gold in Cue!
What a beautiful old building this is. It has been lovingly restored, with attention to detail creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with soaring ceilings and artwork evoking a feeling of a traditional home from the past. All comforts are provided, but the bathrooms are shared so if you need to get up at night there is a short walk down the hall to reach them. Joyce cooked us a fabulous meal which we enjoyed while chatting with her and other travellers in the dining room. The hospitality was fantastic overall, I would recommend The Queen to anyone who wants an experience that is more special and memorable than a generic hotel/motel stay.

Fantastic Place
We stayed overnight during a long road trip and it was absolutely gorgeous. Yummy dinner served at 7pm, comfy beds, pet friendly and both Joyce and Darryl are the perfect hosts. Warm friendly atmosphere and a beautiful old building. We would stay there again any time.

Joyce was Choice!
Having been all around the Midwest staying in numerous bed and breakfasts this was the best hospitality we have experienced by far. Joyce and Darryl went out of their way to make us feel at home. Rooms were very cosy which made for a great night sleep. Tasty food and great conversations! Thanks again Joyce! We will definitely be staying again.
