Where is Mandurah?
Mandurah is 80 kilometres south of Perth.
Mandurah is situated on the southern coast of the Experience Perth tourist region and Perth metropolitan area and is at the northern coastal point of the local Peel region. Mandurah faces west to the Indian Ocean on the magnificent Harvey Estuary and Peel Inlet. Many large canal estates feature in the landscape in and around town. One of the best ways to get to Mandurah is to hire a car from Perth Airport.

Mandurah is a water based town with huge Ocean Marina on the town foreshore and is surrounded by beautiful waterways which feed into the Indian Ocean with plenty of family friendly beaches. Canal estates provide luxury homes for most locals. Tourists can have fun on the water fishing, diving, swimming, surfing and boating. Dolphin Encounters
Enjoy an interaction with the playful Bottlenose Dolphins of Mandurah. A very enjoyable and safe experience whether you choose to enter the water for snorkelling with the dolphins or to observe them from a boat. The friendly local dolphins happily interact with people.

The Golf Coast
The coast around Mandurah is fast becoming populated with world-class 18 hole golf courses, such as 'Links-By-The-Sea', Meadow Springs and Pinjarra. If you're a keen golfer, Mandurah offers a variety of layouts, allowing you to play a game by the ocean, estuary or valley.

What's the weather like?
Sharing the same climate as Perth, Mandurah has a typical mediterranean climate with warm Summers and cool Winters. Ideal weather with clear skies, great for holidays in a coastal city. In Summer (December to February), the average maximum temperature is 27°C with an average minimum temperature of 19°C. In Winter (June to August), the average maximum temperature is 15°C with an average minimum temperature of 9°C.
Get to know Mandurah's history
The first European to settle in the area was Thomas Peel and the region is now named in honour of him. The city's name was derived from the local Aboriginal word 'mandjar' which means 'meeting place'. On December 15, 1829, 169 settlers arrived in the area to take up the available 250 000 acres reserved for the town.
In 1850 the town was connected to Perth by a coastal road and by railway in 1893. By the 1950s, Mandurah was nothing more than a tiny fishing village but the establishment of an alumina refinery at nearby Pinjarra in the early 1970s aided the towns growth. Today, the city is one of the fastest growing in the state, as multi-million dollar resorts and housing estates take advantage of the spectacular Harvey Estuary and Peel inlets.
